Points of Emphasis

Please keep in mind that one of the reasons we have a great school is because we provide students with a safe, secure, and productive educational environment. At the heart of our efforts to make sure that Pinkerton remains a great school is a disciplinary code based on three principles:
Courtesy ~ Respect ~ Responsibility.

Please take the time to read the Student Planner that is issued to all students on the first day of school. The Student Planner contains policies and procedures relative to student attendance and discipline. It also contains calendar pages for students to organize and keep track of their assignments/appointments. Some school event dates have been included in the calendar section. This year, we plan to specifically stress the following Points of Emphasis, as detailed in the planner. Spending a few minutes reviewing these items with your child will go a long way in helping us to maintain Pinkerton Pride!

Internal Student Support (ISS) - Please review the entire policy in the Student Planner. In-school suspension is a disciplinary measure that may be utilized by the Academy’s administration in accordance with established policy and administrative regulations. Days served in ISS will not be held against the student’s attendance.

Cell Phone POLICY - Students may only use cell phones before 7:15 a.m., in the cafeterias during lunch periods, and after 2:10 p.m. Cell phones should not be visible during the school day (unless as noted).

ELECTRONIC DEVICES - Electronic devices such as CD players, iPods, and MP3 players are not allowed to be displayed or used during school hours. Please leave these items at home.

UPDATED ATTENDANCE POLICIES - Please review the updated tardy and dismissal policies. Pinkerton Academy is a closed campus, which means that students cannot come and go at will during the school day. Permission must be granted by an administrative attendance office following proper procedures for tardiness and dismissals. Cutting classes and studies is another area of major concern. You must be present and participate in your classes and practice good study habits in order to attain good grades. Finally, being on time to school and classes is a good habit to establish, as it will pay you dividends for the rest of your life. Students driving to school need to give themselves extra time to allow for heavy traffic, weather conditions, and parking.

Dress Code - As in the past, the administration will be making a concerted effort to prevent students from wearing inappropriate clothing to school. Warnings and eventual detentions will be issued to students who are marginally out of dress code. Students who are in gross violation of the dress code will be sent home or held in administrative offices until appropriate clothing is provided (Student Planner, inside front cover).

KEEPING TRACK OF PERSONAL PROPERTY - Please bring to school only what is necessary for educational work. If your possessions and/or money are left unattended, they could disappear. Please help discourage theft by being responsible with your personal property. The Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We offer the use of a lock for school lockers at no charge to the student.

BULLYING - In accordance with RSA 193-F, bullying will not be tolerated at Pinkerton Academy. Students who engage in bullying behaviors defined as “conduct which subjects a student to insults, taunts, challenges, whether verbal or physical in nature, which are likely to intimidate or provoke a violent or disorderly response,” will be subject to disciplinary action including detentions, suspensions and possible expulsion from school.

SHARING COMPUTER ACCOUNTS & PASSWORDS is absolutely not allowed. Computer accounts are monitored constantly. If, however, you choose to do this, you and the person you shared the information with will lose the privilege of accessing your accounts and disciplinary action will be taken.

STUDENT PARKING - Parking permits are required for all cars in order to park anywhere on campus. Permits are generally issued only to members of the senior class. Parking permits will cost $35.00.

Thank you!
