PA Driver Education

08/09 Registration
The Driver Education program at Pinkerton Academy is comprised of one full-time teacher, five part-time teachers and a coordinator. Approximately 260 students are enrolled in the program annually. The Driver Education program will be offering eight in-school sections and four after school sections. The program provides the State mandated 30 hours of classroom instruction, 10 hours of on-street driving time and 6 hours of on-street observation time. Students who successfully complete this program will receive a Driver Education Certificate and .25 credits.
Since enrollment is limited we encourage you to register early. Enrollment for the 08/09 school year will begin with EdLine registration in February. After the students register using Edline and before course confirmations are sent, students requesting Driver Ed on EdLine will receive a notice in home room (mid-March) confirming their registration and explaining specific information about their request. Students will be instructed to bring the required paperwork along with a non-refundable deposit to Mr. Grube. Students who do not comply will be removed from the Driver Education EdLine registration list. These students may register again but they will be required to pay the $100 deposit.
Students who did not register on EdLine can bring the registration form, $100 non-refundable deposit check, and copy of their birth certificate to the Career and Technical Education office in the Low Building anytime after March 3rd.
The cost for students who enroll using Edline and submit the required paperwork by the deadline will be $625 and it will be $650 for all other students. This $25.00 discount will be applied to the deposit. Therefore the deposit will be $75 for students who signed up using Edline and $100 for all others. The deposit and payment are not refundable due to withdrawal or failure. Final payment is expected at the parent night programs for all classes except after school section 921-3 and 921-4. Payment for those classes will be collected at the start of the class.
