Career-Discovery Courses courses are open to all students but are recommended for 9
th and 10th graders. The goal of the career and technical education program at Pinkerton Academy is two-fold: to prepare graduates for entry level employment in a skilled occupation and to continue study at a post secondary level. Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to elect a number of the introductory, career-discovery courses to take advantage of the opportunity to explore, experience, and measure personal interest and aptitude. Most students find that these courses provide a good foundation for the advanced level, career focused programs that are available at the 11th and 12th grade levels (in some cases to 10th graders). To View all Career-Discovery Courses, click here.
Career-Focused Courses are primarily open to all to 11
th and 12th graders (10th grade students are enrolled only with the permission of the CTE Director). The goal of the career-focused programs described below is to prepare graduates for entry level employment in a skilled occupation and continued study at the post secondary level. The classes in these programs meet two periods per day for two years; (note that the Pre-Engineering program is a 3-year program beginning with the Introduction to Engineering Design in the 10th grade). To View all Career-Focused Courses, click here.
