Courses in the Center for Technical Education are organized around labs that are designed to simulate actual work place environments. In these environments, students use state of the art equipment and perform tasks that are inline with current industry standards. In addition, because the Academy offers advanced career and technical education programming, the NH State Department of Education has designated Pinkerton as one of the twenty-six regional career and technical education centers in New Hampshire. As a designated center, The Center for Technical Education complies with the Fifteen Standards for Program Approval as established by the NH Department of Education and is eligible to receive federal career and technical education funding
A trademark of the Center for Technical Education is the close partnerships that the department maintains with business in Southern New Hampshire. Each of the fourteen advanced career and technical education programs has an Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committees are comprised of practitioners who represent the occupational fields upon which the career and technical education programs are based. The business practitioners assist classroom instructors with program development, selection of equipment, and teaching strategies. The advisors' input ensures that the staff maintains real-time" links with the world of work.
