ASL

List of Colleges/Universities that accept ASL as a Foreign Language.

Maintained by the University of New Mexico

PLEASE NOTE:  Top colleges such as BYU, *Brown, Georgetown, M.I.T., *Northeastern, Purdue, Stanford, Vassar, and Tufts all accept ASL as a FL requirement.  See below for those which require three years.

*These colleges all offer SLIP programs (Sign Language Interpreter Programs) at either the Bachelor’s or Master’s level.

List includes 150 + Colleges and Universities

v     Of particular interest were the colleges that REQUIRE three years (as you know many colleges require two, but in reality want three years of the same language.) Following is that list:

Temple University

Tufts University

SUNY at Albany

Thomas College

D’Youville University

Hartwick College

Elmira College

Bentley College

Keuka College

NONE of these colleges are on the UNM list as of yet, but they will be when Mr. Wilcox does the next list update.

In addition, the following colleges will also be added to the list at the next update.  Approximately 2/3 of them require 2 years, and the other 1/3 require 1 year.  There are a few that have no requirement but would regard it as “unique” and a good way to make a student “stand out” on his/her transcripts.
