College Application Process
What is the Application Process?
The College application process will begin the end of your Junior year. Your Guidance Counselor will make an appointment with you to discuss your thoughts for attending college and begin developing a college list. Begin visiting colleges during February, April & Summer vacations and attend the Annual Spring College Fair which is in April 2008 from 6pm to 8:30 in the Hackler Gym. Ask teachers to write you a recommendation and fill out your Student Data Form.
What is my Guidance Counselor responsible for sending to my schools?
Your Guidance Counselor will send your teacher and counselor recommendations, your transcript, and a school profile. Students are responsible to send their applications and application fees to the school and are responsible for all Financial Aid. For help with Financial Aid contact NHHEAF (NH Higher Education Assistance Foundation) www.nhheaf.org or at 1-800-525-2577.

Colleges & Universities are interested in knowing how you are performing academically throughout your senior year. Mid-year reports usually consist of forms from your college that your Guidance Counselors will fill out and send with your grades from 1st semester. If your colleges require mid-year reports, please bring any forms with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to your Guidance Counselor.
What is the Common Application?
The Common Application is
used by a number of colleges and universities around the country. To see
if your college requires a Common Application visit
www.commonapp.org. Students
complete the Common Application only once, then make copies to be sent to any
number of participating schools. You may obtain a copy of the Common
Application on-line at
www.collegedata.com or by picking one up at outside the Career Center.
* If you opt to use the Common Application, be sure to check if your school requires any supplemental forms in addition to the application itself. This information can be found online at www.commonapp.org. Go to "teachers and counselors" then to "view contact information and requirements" then click on "supplement." You can also find this information on the college's website. If in doubt, call or e-mail the school's admissions office.
