"Choices Explorer"
. It is an occupational file and has information about thousands of different occupations. An article (which the student can print) includes What They Do (job description), Salary and Outlook, Education (beyond high school) and Interviews (with people involved with that job). It also has a section called "Getting Started" which includes critical thinking skills exercises for that particular occupation. The exercises deal with "Real Life Math", Real Life Decisions" and "Real Life Communications". These are optional problems for the student to attempt to figure out with answers and pros/cons presented. The articles also include web pages, e-mail addresses and mailing addresses the student can contact to get even more information about their particular occupation. The site ID and the password can be found on Edline under Saltmarch Library on the right side of the page. They are listed under (Bridges (Career Explorer) ). Neither of these are secretive and may be used wherever the individual has Internet access (such as the Career Center). There are directions sheet available in the CC for anyone interested.
