776 CLIMATE CONTROL TECHNOLOGY 2 (double period)
This full-year (2 credit) course is the second half of a 2-year program and intensifies, follows through, and elaborates on material covered in Climate Control Technology 1. It is designed for the student who wishes to pursue a career in the manufacture, repair, and installation of heat transfer equipment. It focuses on areas such as refrigeration systems; component installation and repair; pipe fitting and ventilation ducting, air-conditioning unit service, furnace and burner service; and safety codes. Students will learn techniques of troubleshooting such as, leak detection, electrical testing, pressure testing, and combustion efficiency. NATE and HVAC Excellence certification is available.
PRE-REQUISITE: Successful completion of Climate Control Tech 1 and permission from CTE Director.
In order to be successful in this program students should be able to: perform basic math functions using a calculator, solve word problems, have basic measuring skills (linear, temperature, direction).
